Damaged Paper Roll Recovery: What to Send for Review
Prepare a damaged-roll assessment with condition photos, grade, dimensions, usable-output requirements, and acceptance criteria.
Inspect before assuming the roll is lost or usable
A crushed core, damaged edge, or moisture exposure can make a roll difficult to run, but the right response depends on the damage and the material. Recovery may reduce the usable width, diameter, or quantity. Some material will not be suitable for the intended application.
Keep damaged stock identified and separate from material approved for production. Record the condition before additional handling and follow your own quality and claim procedures.
Document the damage and the required output
Send an overview photo, close views of the affected area, the roll label, and core condition. Include the grade, width, diameter, weight, and where the damage appears. Explain any known moisture exposure and any application-specific acceptance rules.
Describe the minimum usable width and quantity, not just the original roll size. A narrower finished format may be useful for one operation and unacceptable for another.
Ask what can be assessed before shipment
Bengal can review roll-recovery inquiries alongside its slitting and rewinding services. Photos help start the discussion, but they do not establish final recoverable yield or material suitability. Physical inspection or a trial may be necessary.
Ask which rework options are feasible, what finished format might result, and what handling or freight would be required. Confirm who has authority to approve rework and any change to the original specification.
Compare recovery with replacement
Consider inspection, rework, freight, lost yield, production timing, and downstream acceptance. The objective is usable material that meets the job requirements; recovery is not automatically the lower-cost or faster answer.
Send the condition record and the required production date to Bengal for assessment. No recovery yield, restored grade, or turnaround should be assumed until the material and scope have been reviewed.
