Roll Specifications for Slitting and Rewinding
Define parent-roll dimensions, slit patterns, core size, finished diameter, winding direction, and splice requirements for a converting quote.
Describe both the parent roll and finished roll
A slitting or rewinding job needs two sets of dimensions. The parent roll must fit the unwind equipment, while the finished roll must fit your production line. Record width, diameter, core inside diameter, and weight for the incoming material. For output, give every width plus the required diameter, length, or weight basis.
Tell the team which output measure controls acceptance. A diameter target and a length target may not describe the same roll when material caliper varies.
Agree the slit pattern and tolerance
List the number of rolls needed at each width and the allowable width variation. Ask the converter to review the combination against parent width, trim, and machine setup. Do not assume that all of the parent width becomes saleable output.
Bengal has five rewinders with different envelopes. One accepts parent widths up to 143 inches; other machines have different width, diameter, and slitter-head limits. Use the machine matrix as a reference, then confirm the actual job.
Define how the roll will run
Specify winding direction and which side faces in or out when it matters to your process. Identify any coating, printing, treatment, or surface sensitivity. Agree splice limits and how any permitted splice should be marked.
Core size, core condition, and finished roll build affect whether the material can be loaded and run. Include the receiving machine requirements, rather than describing the roll only as standard.
Include handling and acceptance
Provide label content, lot traceability, wrapping, pallet orientation, and weight limits. For a new substrate, ask whether a trial or sample is needed to confirm performance.
Send the dimensions and an existing roll label or specification to Bengal. The team will review the material and machine fit before quoting or scheduling production.
Request a Converting Quote
Send your material, incoming dimensions, required output, approximate quantity, and delivery date. We will review the job and confirm what is needed to prepare a quote.
